Here are the rules you need to read before roleplaying.
1. Harassment You are allowed to ask people to join in your RPs, however, please understand that “no” means NO. Do not continue to ask people after they've said no. This includes PMing them, or bothering them in forums.
DO NOT ADVERTISE YOUR RP IN A THREAD IN ANOTHER FORUM; YOU MAY ONLY DO THIS IN THE ROLEPLAYING INFORMATION FORUM. BUT ONLY ONE THREAD PER ADVERT ROLEPLAY. DO NOT ADVERT YOUR ROLEPLAY IN ANOTHER THREAD AT ALL.
2. All content must be labeled appropriately This includes keeping them in the correct Subboard. For roleplays, we have cross overs, 16+ (16+, M, AO and R rated roleplays), and slash/femslash. But, in the slash/femslash subboards, these are expected to be 15-, if you want to have a slash/femslash Rp that's rated over that, please put it in the 16+ subboard, and in the title, have both the rating and type in it please if it's slash/femslash. Example: "How to Break a Heart (16+/femslash)
3. Spam and OOC Posts Please refrain from posting too many out of character posts. These posts include song lyrics, Instant Messaging posts, and chat. Please do not have personal conversations in the Rp. There are other forums for that, including the Out of Character category. If you are discussing the RP in use, it is usually better to take discussions of plot, etc. to Personal Message, or, if you have it, the thread of which you advertised your roleplay in.
4. Start an RP with an actual role play post. This means that you cannot start an RP with just a character outline or a request to role play; it MUST include a post. The Roleplaying Information board is where you may look for RPing partners and post plot/character outlines, or, if you do post it in the roleplaying thread, make sure that there IS a roleplaying post in there.
5. Do not bump threads excessively. The max is a limited of three times. Four or more is getting out of hand. If we see that you have excessively bumped, your thread will be locked accordingly. Do not bump your thread if it is still on the first page.
6. IF YOU STATE THAT YOUR RP IS OPEN TO THE MAX AMOUNT OF ROLEPLAYERS, YOU MAY NOT EXCLUDE SOMEONE WHO POSTS IN IT.
7. You may only allow Four people per roleplay, excluding Ms. Rova. (For details on Ms. Rova, please go to "Ms. Rova, Advice Columnist.") The reason for this is being because roleplays with more than four tend to be very difficult to keep up with.
You also must not get ahead of the roleplay, and let others reply accordingly.
8. Please PM an RP Moderator or Admin about a thread in the RP before going to the GMods. This means sending an pm to a Mod rather than PMing the Global Mods..
9. When you post a roleplay, please have a limited part telling about your roleplay in a specific format before moving unto the roleplay/character description, such as Title, rating, other. . .
Format//
Title: Rp title
Rating: rp rating
Required amount of roleplayers: How many people are able to post besides yourself and Ms. Rova
Main characters: main characters included
Characters needed: characters you need to be played
Genres: roleplay genres
Basic plot: the basic plot of the roleplay
Other notes: notes you would like to add on before any one else posts, (IE. Literate, keeping it third/first person, etc)
Example//
Title: How to Break a Heart
Rating: 16+
Required Amount of Roleplayers: One.
Main Characters: OC, Haruhi Fujioka
Characters needed: Haruhi Fujioka, Tamaki Suoh, Ritsu Kasanoda
Genres: Romance, Drama, Comfort.
Basic plot: A new girl at Ouran High School arrives, Hana Nekoyuki, who goes by the nickname "Casanova," who isn't the usual Rich girl people would expect. She lives on the edge, and won't say no for anybody. But, what happens when she meets Haruhi Fujioka, and immediately finds out she's a girl? What happens when they both fall for eachother, and how will Haruhi react to Hana's deep, dark secret that not even she knows herself?
Other notes: Please be fairly literate, and it would be much appreciated if you kept your replies in third person. Also, straying a bit from Ritsu's and Tamaki's characters is alright, but I must require you to COMPLETELY stay in character for Haruhi. And please, reply at a minimum of three times a week. Thank you.
10. Closing a thread. To close a thread (and yes, your thread must eventually end), contact a staff moderator (preferably an RPG mod) and inform them that the thread has been completed.
11. Posting out of turn is rude. Patience is the key, as multiple postings of multiple actions are rather annoying when a player is trying to reply. In short, wait your turn to post. If a user complains of this, the offending user will be warned. Posting order isn’t enforced strictly, but rather we rely on users to be considerate to each other when it comes to posting order. Be kind to your fellow role-players, please.
12. God-modding & Mary Sues/Gary Stues. God-modding is when you are using another person's character in your posts without their permission. Which is against the rules UNLESS you have their premission.
Mary Sues/Gary Stues is a perfect character. They have no flaws and have an answer for everything. They are very frowned upon, because they are unrealistic and make RPs boring.
13. Minimum RP length. EVERY roleplay post must be five sentences or more. This means NO one liners, and nothing under five sentences. Also, please don't use five short sentences, that is not acceptable.
Here are some examples:
Bad example: she said "yay, school." she walked into the school. she walked up the stairs. she went into his classroom. she said "hi" to her classmates and sat down.
Good example: She grinned happily, walking up to the big, pink school for rich kids such as herself, which, considering the fact that she could cause such trouble in this school, automatically made her exclaim, "Yay, school!" Quickly, she nearly ran into the school, but once inside she slowed down to a regular walk, viewing over the large hallway she was in. Seeing the stairs, and knowing which class she had next, (Being as she had already gotten the map and schedule from the Guidance Counselor, Ms. Rova, the day before,) she quickly walked up them and to the correct hallway. Once up the stairs, she walked down the long hallway for her class- beaming with excitement as she turned to the left, and walked into the door ahead of her. Noticing all the students in there looking at the unfamiliar face, she giggled mischievously, "Hi!" she exclaimed ecstatically, before walking calmly to a free seat behind a brunette boy, and sat down, oh, how she knew how much trouble she would get into.
Easily, you can see how much of a difference that added into each example, and also made the good example better to understand and read. Anyone who fails to follow this rule, their thread will immediately be locked.
For any other questions, please see a staff member. Never assume or guess based off your experiences on another forum.
